SYNK

Acceptable use policy

The SYNK Radio API is free and open. The rules below exist so it stays that way.

Last updated: 27 May 2026.

You may

  • Build apps, sites, plugins, bots and research projects against the API.
  • Cache responses for as long as the caching guidance suggests, or longer where it makes sense for your product.
  • Redistribute API responses inside your own product, including in commercial products.
  • Use the data to power recommendations, search, lyrics display, artwork rendering and audio analysis features.

You must not

  • Hammer the API past published rate limits. If you need a higher ceiling, get in touch first.
  • Strip or spoof the User-Agent header. The contact email exists so we can reach you before blocking traffic.
  • Resell raw API responses as a standalone data product. Use it inside something, do not just rewrap it.
  • Scrape this docs site or the OpenAPI spec to clone the API. The spec is published for integration, not duplication.
  • Attempt to identify, deanonymise or attack other API consumers using shared response data.
  • Use the API for anything illegal in the UK or in the country where your service is hosted.

Lyrics and artwork

Lyrics and cover art come from upstream rights holders. The API surfaces them under the licences SYNK Radio holds. You must not:

  • Republish full lyrics on a public page without your own licence in place. Synced lyrics are fine for in-app playback. Static long-form display is not.
  • Sell artwork as a standalone product. Display alongside the track it belongs to is fine.

If you are not sure whether your use is covered, ask before shipping.

Enforcement

Most issues are resolved with an email. If your traffic is causing a problem we contact the address in your User-Agent first, give you a window to fix it and only then block. Hard blocks are reserved for repeated breaches and for behaviour that puts the service at risk for everyone else.

Blocking is per email and per IP

A block is keyed on the email in your User-Agent and the originating IP range. Rotating user-agents does not get around it and the appeal is slower than just talking to us in the first place.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes are listed on the changelog with at least seven days notice before they take effect.
